Hello,

I’m Izzy. A potter, teacher and the owner of Stoneware Studios.

My life as a potter began almost 10 years ago in a pottery class I took one evening while working in a hectic advertising agency. I fell head over heels in love with the craft, quit my day job during the Covid pandemic and ran full pelt at trying to get my pottery business off the ground.

Alongside designing and making for private commissions and wholesale stockists such as Fortnum & Mason and featuring in publications such as World of Interiors, it’s now a privilege to teach those new to pottery and more experienced potters alike. I adore my teaching practice and sharing what I’ve learnt over the last 10 years.

It was important to me to create a teaching space that felt true to my practice as a working production potter, but was filled with natural light and a restful place to be. I searched for the right space for a long time, before finding this beautiful high ceiling workshop with floor to ceiling crittall windows and a friendly courtyard of craftspeople neighbours.

I feel passionately that for students learning to throw, they should have a lot of attention from the teacher so they can fully grasp the art of throwing and then independently practice. Something I found was missing in the larger group classes I attended when I was a beginner.

So I’m thrilled to be able to welcome some groups of students to this beautiful space and make pots together.

Love, Izzy x
